Gilbert is one of the fastest growing cities in Arizona. The area has seen an increase in population from 5,717 just 35 years ago to more than 200,000 as of the 2010 census. History

The town lays on land that was first used to construct a rail line connecting Phoenix and Florence. The first post office was built in 1912 and moved several times. Its current site is where it has been located for close to 100 years. The city was officially incorporated in 1920 as an agricultural town. Today, the area is known as a suburban center for some of the more major cities surrounding it.
